SkinColorCatch – Skin color measurement for melanin, erythema and skin color
SkinColorCatch is an easy-to-use skin color meter. Erythema and melanin indices are indicators quantifying skin erythema and pigmentation. With traditional colorimeters, erythema measurement is often affected by melanin and vice versa. This has been solved in the fully portable and pocket sized SkinColorCatch, which measures erythema and melanin indices insensitive to each other. In addition to this, SkinColorCatch measures L*a*b* values and many other parameters with the same push of a button. Skin color measurements have never been easier.

Skin color measuring device
The SkinColorCatch can be used in numerous applications of skin research, in service laboratories, in product development and claims substantiation within cosmetic and personal care industries and for promotion and marketing of skin care products.
Skin color measurement principle
White LEDs corresponding to daylight are arranged circularly inside the measurement chamber of the SkinColorCatch. When the SkinColorCatch is gently placed on the skin, the LEDs illuminate the skin in the angle of 45 degrees to minimize gloss. The light reflecting back from the skin is detected with an RGB color sensor.
The measurement with the SkinColorCatch is not affected by ambient lighting conditions due to the direct skin contact. The optical orifice of the SkinColorCatch is designed to minimize possible device contact pressure induced skin blanching effects during the measurement.
