SWL-2 vs. Evaporimeter EP2
To compare
the closed chamber (VapoMeter) and the open chamber (Evaporimeter) TEWL
meters in human skin, the TEWL values were measured with both devices
at different anatomical sites and evaporation rates.
Conclusion The
closed chamber VapoMeter measures low and high evaporation values
without saturation unlike the open chamber systems.
The
TEWL values of the closed chamber device compare well with the open
chamber device at low evaporation rates, but the VapoMeter shows higher
values at high evaporation rates. It is documented that the open
chamber method underestimates high TEWL values.
