Edema is an abnormal accumulation of fluid - mainly water - in body tissues. Early detection of edema makes the most efficient treatment possible.

The MoistureMeter D measures a tissue dielectric constant (TDC) which depends on tissue fluid volume. It can assess the increased water amount in the tissue non-invasively and locally in seconds. TDC measurements have been used under a variety of conditions including skin irritation, breast edema during radiotherapy, haemodialysis, post cardiac surgery and lymphedema where TDC values depend on tissue water content, see published papers.
