The changes of tissue water relate directly to cutaneous edema. This can be caused for example by allergic and irritant reactions Skin edema is related also to inflammation, certain diseases, surgical operations and the use of certain drugs.

The Delfin MoistureMeterD and MoistureMeterD Compact are very practical tools for measuring edema locally and non-invasively virtually on all body sites. The MoistureMeterD measures the actual tissue dielectric constant (TDC) value, which is directly proportional to the amount of water in the skin while the MoistureMeterD Compact converts this TDC value into actual water percentage which is displayed.
